SUMMARY:Build your BIP with ACE²-EU: Developing Successful BIPs from Concept to Implementation
DESCRIPTION:Course Type: Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) for staff \n  \nApplication Process: \nInterested applicants should \n🔗 Apply here — https://forms.gle/1uzVcC43LvkPtNgq5 \nDeadline for receipt of applications: 29 May\, 2026 \nPlease note that submitting an application does not guarantee a place on the programme. Participating institutions apply their own internal selection procedures. \n  \nDuration and Learning Format \nProvide a clear overview of the course structure\, including: \n\nThe total workload is 75 hours\, broken down as follows:\n\nSynchronous online activities: 5 h\nOn-site (physical mobility) activities: 30 h\nIndependent and group work: 40 h\n\n\nDates:\n\nOn-site component: 15-19 June\, 2026\, Ingolstadt\, Germany\nOnline component: 9 & 16 July\, 2026\n\n\n\nPlease note: Under Erasmus+ rules\, the minimum on-site duration for a BIP is five days. Only administrative and teaching staff who attend the full on-site week (15–19 June 2026) will be counted as BIP participants. Lecturers attending for a shorter period are welcome to join but will not be registered as BIP participants. \n  \nCredits and Certification \nCredits: 3 ECTS \nCertification: participants will receive a certificate of attendance \nOrganising Institutions and Teaching Staff: \nLead and Host Institution \n\nTechnische Hochschule Ingolstadt\, Germany\nAnna-Lisa Klages\, Sonja Bedington\, Fiona Nimser-Büchner\, Lara Schäfer\n\nPartner Institutions \nFrancisco de Vitoria University (UFV)\, Spain \n\nAlma Vázquez Esteban\n\nMedical University Gdansk (MUG)\, Poland \n\nDawid Spychała\, Karolina Derda\n\nCourse Overview \nBIPs – short for “Blended Intensive Programmes” are Erasmus+ programmes that offer a unique opportunity to enhance international collaboration and develop innovative transnational learning formats while benefiting from dedicated Erasmus+ funding that supports travel\, coordination\, and innovative course design. \nThey create a flexible space to experiment with new pedagogical approaches\, combining virtual collaboration with short\, impactful in-person exchanges that energise both students and instructors. It is financed by Erasmus+ funding\, allowing for organisational support (min. 4.000€) in addition to travel grants for participants. \nSince BIPs are ‘new territory’ to several institutions within the ACE²-EU Alliance\, the aim of this BIP is to train colleagues to become BIP experts. During the programme\, we will provide you with insights regarding terms\, conditions\, and particularities of BIPs\, thereby developing structures and processes to strategically embed BIPs into institutional developments. \nThis BIP addresses two target-groups: \n\nAdministrative staff involved with coordinating\, supporting\, and facilitating BIPs within the ACE²-EU Alliance and\nProfessors and scientific staff interested in developing a BIP in the areas of teaching\, research\, and/or entrepreneurship.\n\nThis is delivered as a single BIP structured in two phases\, not as two parallel programmes. During the first part of the on-site week\, the programme is dedicated to administrative staff\, who take a deep dive into BIP coordination\, evaluate best practices and develop a joint scheme for processes within the Alliance. In the second part\, the programme moves into project-based learning: administrative staff put what they have learned into practice\, while teaching staff receive a guided introduction to BIP development and work on potential BIP ideas to be taken further afterwards. Sessions on inclusive and diversity-sensitive BIP development\, as well as inputs on communication\, are open to all participants. \nAt the end of this course\, you will know everything you need to know about how to organise and coordinate your own BIP. Participating lecturers will have used the opportunity to exchange ideas\, work together in workshops to develop topics and content with colleagues from different Alliance institutions. In addition\, we will have laid out a foundation for the strategic positioning of BIPs to foster teaching\, research\, innovation\, entrepreneurship\, and vocational training within the ACE²-EU Alliance. \nLearning Journey \nThis BIP is divided into four major parts: \n\nIntroduction and information (on site)\nBest practices\, adaptation\, and integration (on site)\nExploration and structuring (on site)\nReflection and improvement (online)\n\nFor administrative staff: At the beginning of the course\, participants will receive a conceptual introduction to and important information about BIPs. After having gained in-depth insights\, they will develop processes and structures needed for the establishment of a workflow at their home institutions and within the Alliance. To do so\, they will work with case studies to assess best practices and pitfalls with the organisation of BIPs. \nFor teaching staff: Lecturers will join the programme on Wednesday. This course focuses on how to make learning more active\, collaborative\, and meaningful through an active-experiential learning approach. \nThe Active Learning Pedagogy School (ALPS) addresses a key challenge in higher education: how to move from traditional teaching to student-centred approaches where students learn by doing\, reflecting\, and applying knowledge in real contexts. \nParticipants will explore practical ways to design learning experiences in which students actively participate\, collaborate\, and solve problems. Through active-experiential learning\, teaching becomes a process where students engage with real situations\, test ideas\, and learn from experience. \nThis is especially relevant in international and interdisciplinary environments\, where diverse perspectives enhance learning. The course supports academic staff in designing more engaging\, interactive\, and meaningful learning experiences aligned with current educational needs. \nLearning Journey\nOnline sessions: \nThe programme begins with a short online preparatory session (20 May 2026\, 12:00–14:00 CET)\, where participants are introduced to the overall approach\, connect with peers\, and reflect on their current teaching practices. This session helps establish a shared starting point and prepares participants for active engagement during the on-site training.. \n\nOnsite sessions:\n\nThe on-site training will take place in Madrid\, Spain\, from 26 to 29 May 2026. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops\, collaborative activities\, and peer exchange based on active-experiential learning. They will work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams to design\, test\, and refine learning activities. The focus is on learning by doing\, experimenting\, and reflecting in a dynamic and supportive environment. \nAs part of the programme\, one of the training days will take place outside the university\, in a natural setting. This experience includes a guided route of approximately 10 kilometres and is designed to explore learning through movement\, reflection\, and connection with others. It offers a unique opportunity to experience active-experiential learning beyond the classroom and to engage with teaching from a different perspective. \nParticipants are encouraged to take this into account when applying. Support can be provided where needed to ensure that all participants can meaningfully engage in the experience. \n\nFollow-up / reflection:\n\nThe programme concludes with an online follow-up session (3 June 2026\, 12:00–14:00 CET)\, where participants will engage in guided reflection activities and peer exchange. \nLearning Objectives \n  \nSpecific learning objectives include: \nList clear and measurable objectives that describe what students are expected to achieve.\nUse action verbs (e.g. analyse\, apply\, design\, reflect). \nLearning Outcomes (By the end of the course\, participants will be able to): \n\nFields or disciplines (broad categories only)\nTo understand the principles of active-experiential learning in higher education\nTo analyse current teaching practices and identify opportunities for improvement\nTo design interactive and student-centred learning activities\nTo apply active learning methodologies in interdisciplinary and intercultural contexts\nTo reflect on teaching approaches and their impact on student engagement\nTo develop and present a short learning activity as part of a formative assessment process\nTo engage in peer feedback and self-reflection to improve teaching design\n\n  \nWhich participants would find this course useful for them? \nThis course is suitable for academic and teaching staff from ACE²-EU partner universities involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. \nIt is particularly relevant for participants from all academic disciplines who are interested in enhancing their teaching practice\, especially those who will design or deliver Micro-Learning Opportunities (MLOs) or Joint ACE²-EU programmes. \n\nRequested Language Level :\n\nEnglish B1–B2\n\n\n\nThis is mandatory\, as English is the working language of ACE²-EU courses. \nThis course may be suitable for those who have an interest in: \n\nInnovative and student-centred teaching methods\nActive-experiential learning\nInterdisciplinary and collaborative education\nInternationalisation of teaching and learning\nDesigning joint or blended learning experiences\n\nApplication Process: \nInterested applicants should apply through their home institution within the ACE²-EU Alliance. \n🔗 Apply here: https://forms.gle/g5s14j25hc1KqzQs6 \nDeadline for receipt of applications: 15 May 2026 \nPlease note that submitting an application does not guarantee a place on the programme. Designed for professors and university staff across the ACE2-EU Alliance\, the event combines conceptual reflection with practical exploration\, moving from regulatory and ethical foundations to concrete applications in teaching\, assessment and research.\n\nParticipants will examine the implications of generative AI for academic integrity\, authorship\, assessment design\, data protection and institutional responsibility. The session also includes a dedicated reflection on preserving critical thinking in the age of AI\, an applied overview of research-oriented tools such as Elicit\, Consensus\, Connected Papers\, Scite and OpenAlex\, and a short practical segment in which participants draft syllabus statements\, match tools to academic tasks and discuss an ethical mini-case. \n\n Target group: Professors/staff\n Structure & Methodology: The session follows an active learning approach designed for university teachers and academic staff. It combines expert-led input\, reflective discussion\, collaborative digital participation and short applied tasks. The methodology supports a shift from seeing AI merely as a technical tool to understanding it as a pedagogical\, ethical and institutional issue that must remain under human judgment and academic responsibility.\n\nThe event is structured into four complementary components: \nConceptual and Regulatory Framework: a lecture on the role of generative AI in higher education\, covering ethical risks\, academic integrity\, current regulation\, institutional policies and responsible academic use. \nCritical Reflection: a dedicated contribution on what may be the central question behind the AI debate in higher education – how to use AI without losing critical thinking. \nResearch Practice and Interactive Applications: an applied overview of AI tools for scientific research – including Elicit\, Consensus\, Connected Papers\, Scite and OpenAlex – together with a Padlet ice-breaker and a final practical segment in which participants collaboratively draft an AI-use policy statement for a syllabus\, match tools to tasks and reflect on a brief ethical case related to students’ use of generative AI. \n\n Registration and participation link: https://forms.gle/zjSnZkPW1jiW8dydA\n\nParticipants must attend the full session and contribute to collaborative tasks: Yes \n\n Attendance certification: Yes\n\nA certificate of attendance will be issued by the course organisers upon successful participation.
