Designed for professors and university staff across the ACE2-EU Alliance\, the event combines conceptual reflection with practical exploration\, moving from regulatory and ethical foundations to concrete applications in teaching\, assessment and research.\n\nParticipants will examine the implications of generative AI for academic integrity\, authorship\, assessment design\, data protection and institutional responsibility. The session also includes a dedicated reflection on preserving critical thinking in the age of AI\, an applied overview of research-oriented tools such as Elicit\, Consensus\, Connected Papers\, Scite and OpenAlex\, and a short practical segment in which participants draft syllabus statements\, match tools to academic tasks and discuss an ethical mini-case. \n\n Target group: Professors/staff\n Structure & Methodology: The session follows an active learning approach designed for university teachers and academic staff. It combines expert-led input\, reflective discussion\, collaborative digital participation and short applied tasks. The methodology supports a shift from seeing AI merely as a technical tool to understanding it as a pedagogical\, ethical and institutional issue that must remain under human judgment and academic responsibility.\n\nThe event is structured into four complementary components: \nConceptual and Regulatory Framework: a lecture on the role of generative AI in higher education\, covering ethical risks\, academic integrity\, current regulation\, institutional policies and responsible academic use. \nCritical Reflection: a dedicated contribution on what may be the central question behind the AI debate in higher education – how to use AI without losing critical thinking. \nResearch Practice and Interactive Applications: an applied overview of AI tools for scientific research – including Elicit\, Consensus\, Connected Papers\, Scite and OpenAlex – together with a Padlet ice-breaker and a final practical segment in which participants collaboratively draft an AI-use policy statement for a syllabus\, match tools to tasks and reflect on a brief ethical case related to students’ use of generative AI. \n\n Registration and participation link: https://forms.gle/zjSnZkPW1jiW8dydA\n\nParticipants must attend the full session and contribute to collaborative tasks: Yes \n\n Attendance certification: Yes\n\nA certificate of attendance will be issued by the course organisers upon successful participation.
