SUMMARY:UNd-9 United in Design – A Cross-Cultural Journey of Nine Cities
DESCRIPTION:Course Type: Flavour School \nDuration and Learning Format \nProvide a clear overview of the course structure\, including: \n\nTotal workload: 35 hours on-site (workshop activities\, design studios\, group discussions\, presentations)\nDates of on-site component: 21–25 September 2026 · 5 days · Stip\, North Macedonia\n\n  \nCredits and Certification \n2 ECTS \n\nOrganising Institutions and Teaching Staff: \nLead and Host Institution \nGoce Delcev University · Stip\, North Macedonia \nTeacher : Ekaterina Namiceva Todorovska (lead) \n\nPartner Institutions \nMedical University of Gdańsk \nTeacher : Magda Warzocha \n  \nExternal stakeholders \n\n\n\nStakeholder\nRole / Engagement\n\n\n\n\nMunicipality of Štip\nHost city · Provides public / semi-public space context for the exhibition panel and spatial marker prototype\n\n\n\n  \nCourse Overview \nUNd-9 United in Design is a short\, intensive\, cross-cultural workshop that brings together students from different creative and design-related disciplines to explore how design can communicate shared cultural narratives in public and semi-public spaces. The course is based on the idea of UNd-9 as a flexible framework that connects multiple cities through stories\, symbols and creative interpretations. \nThe workshop is intentionally open to students from different departments — architecture\, urban design\, graphic design\, fashion design\, product design\, fine arts\, media and related fields. Working in international and interdisciplinary teams\, participants use primarily paper-based methods\, complemented by simple physical modelling\, to research\, interpret and translate cultural identities into spatial and visual concepts. \nThe central task of the course is the conceptualisation and design of an exhibition panel or spatial marker intended for a university garden or open public space. In addition to drawings and narratives\, participants collaboratively construct one cardboard prototype that functions as a reference model. This prototype demonstrates how the UNd-9 concept can be extended\, adapted and replicated across different cities\, institutions and cultural contexts. \n  \nLearning Journey\nOn-site component — 21–25 September 2026 · 35h · Stip \nThe on-site sessions unfold as an intensive\, hands-on design laboratory over five consecutive days. Learning happens through doing: drawing\, mapping\, cutting\, assembling\, discussing and testing ideas together in a shared studio environment. \nStudents work in international and interdisciplinary teams\, moving fluidly between research\, storytelling and making. Using paper\, cardboard and simple tools\, participants explore cultural narratives and translate them into spatial and visual concepts. Ideas are continuously sketched\, pinned up\, reworked and debated\, allowing the design process to remain open\, experimental and collaborative. \nThe week culminates in the collective construction of one cardboard prototype\, conceived as an exhibition panel or spatial marker for a university garden or open space. Daily critiques\, informal reviews and a final presentation frame the experience as a shared journey — focused on process\, exchange and cross-cultural learning rather than on polished final results. \n\nLearning Objectives \nSpecific learning objectives include: \n\nExplore how cultural narratives and identities can be translated into visual\, material and spatial concepts.\nDevelop confidence in experimental\, paper-based and low-tech making processes\, including drawing\, mapping and cardboard prototyping.\nLearn to collaborate effectively in international and interdisciplinary teams\, valuing different creative approaches and perspectives.\nStrengthen storytelling and conceptual thinking as tools for design and artistic practice.\nUnderstand how temporary installations or spatial markers can activate and communicate meaning in shared university or public spaces.\nReflect on the role of design and creative practice in fostering dialogue\, inclusion and cross-cultural exchange.\n\n\nLearning Outcomes (By the end of the course\, students will be able to): \n\nTranslate cultural themes and narratives into visual\, material or spatial design concepts.\nUse paper-based and low-tech prototyping methods to develop and communicate design ideas.\nCollaborate effectively within international and interdisciplinary teams\, integrating diverse creative perspectives.\nDevelop and present a coherent concept for an exhibition panel or spatial marker in a shared open space.\nReflect critically on their own creative process and the value of cross-cultural collaboration in design and artistic practice.\n\n\nWhich students would find this course useful for them? \n👥 Who Should Apply? \n🎓 Level: Undergraduate and postgraduate students from ACE²-EU partner universities \n🌍 Fields: Architecture and Urban Design · Graphic Design and Visual Communication · Fashion and Textile Design · Product and Industrial Design · Fine Arts and Contemporary Art Practices · Media\, Communication and Creative Technologies · Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning · Cultural Studies \n🤝 Suitable for those interested in: Cross-cultural and international collaboration in creative practice · Concept-driven design and artistic experimentation · Storytelling through visual\, material or spatial forms · Hands-on\, low-tech making using paper and cardboard · Temporary installations\, exhibition design and spatial communication · The role of design and art in fostering dialogue\, inclusion and shared cultural understanding \n🗣️ Language: English B1–B2 \n\nApplication Process: \nInterested applicants should \n🔗 Apply here: https://forms.gle/Lr4HUpt24XWCeuLP7 \nDeadline for receipt of applications: 15 July 2026 \nA notification of acceptance to participate will be sent to successful applicants by the host institution. SUMMARY:Kaleidoscope Culture Festival 2026 – Second Edition “100 Voices – One Future”
DESCRIPTION:Period: 28-30 October 2026 \nSchedule (draft version): \n \n  \nOrganised by: Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu Jiu\, Romania \nDeadline for registration: 20 May 2026 \nCertificate of attendance: Yes \nRegistrationlink: https://forms.gle/K2bn5VuTvGDQPyZi8 \n\nObjectives: The Kaleidoscope Culture Festival aims to foster intercultural dialogue\, mutual understanding\, and collaboration amongst students from all ACE²-EU partner universities\, by creating a shared space where cultural diversity is not merely presented\, but actively experienced\, explored\, and celebrated.\n Event short description (from the project): The ACE²-EU Kaleidoscope Culture Festival will allow students of the alliance to showcase their respective cultures to others at a festival setting and on an annual basis coinciding with the Annual Assemblies of the alliance to promote multiculturalism\, multilingualism\, and inclusion across the alliance. Student teams from each member university will create a different and novel cultural programme each year to reflect their national and regional identity and heritage. The cultural and linguistic programmes to be presented can be composed of individual/multiple elements including national and regional forms of art\, literature\, language\, music\, dance\, sport\, or cuisine.\n Target group: ACE²-EU Alliance Students\n Structure & Methodology: The Kaleidoscope Culture Festival 2026 is a three-day intercultural experience built around two core principles: collaboration and creative expression. Rather than simply presenting cultures side by side\, the festival brings students together to co-create\, dialogue\, and learn from one another.\n\nDay 1 – 28 October – Students kick off the festival with team-building activities\, the Puzzle of Culture Challenge\, and the Student Innovation Lab. The evening features the International Cultural & Creative Showcase and a Folk Dance Night. \nDay 2 – 29 October – A day of hands-on learning through Exploratory Practice Labs\, theatrical performances\, an ACE Talk\, and a Digital Storytelling Lab\, ending with a Masquerade Ball. \nDay 3 – 30 October – The final day brings reflection\, a City Exhibition\, and the ACE Gala Awards Ceremony\, closing with a Grand Dinner. \nThe festival’s methodology is rooted in the principles of interculturality\, going beyond simply acknowledging cultural differences to actively fostering dialogue\, shared experiences\, and mutual learning between participants. This distinguishes the Kaleidoscope Culture Festival from a traditional cultural showcase: students are not passive spectators but active co-creators throughout the entire experience. \nThe festival draws on several key pedagogical approaches: \n\nChallenge-based learning – students arrive with pre-developed proposals responding to a real-world question: “How can cultural diversity strengthen social well-being in communities?” This encourages critical thinking and the development of concrete\, applicable solutions.\nLearning by doing – through Exploratory Practice Labs\, Digital Storytelling workshops\, and theatrical performances\, students engage in hands-on activities that make cultural exchange tangible and meaningful.\nCo-creation – rather than presenting ready-made content\, students collaborate across universities and cultural backgrounds to jointly develop ideas\, outputs\, and performances.\nReflection – a dedicated reflection session on the final day allows participants to consolidate their experiences\, drawing personal and collective insights from the festival.\nAlignment with ACE²-EU values – every activity is designed to reinforce the core values of the Alliance: multiculturalism\, multilingualism\, inclusion\, and a shared European identity.\n\nTogether\, these approaches ensure that the Kaleidoscope Culture Festival is not simply an event\, but a meaningful intercultural learning experience that leaves a lasting impact on all participants. \n\n Registration and participation (include link): https://forms.gle/K2bn5VuTvGDQPyZi8\n\nParticipants must attend the full sessions and contribute to collaborative tasks: Yes \n\n Attendance certification: Yes\n Contact & Coordination\n\n    For any questions or support related to the event\, please contact: \n\n\n\nAsnāte Kalēja\nLatvian Academy of Culture\nasnate.kaleja@lka.edu.lv\n\n\nVilda Grybauskiene\nLietuvos Inzinerijos Kolegija Higher Education Institution\nvilda.grybauskiene@lik.tech\n\n\n Carolina Müller\nCarinthia University of Applied Sciences\nC.Mueller@fh-kaernten.at\n\n\nGabriela Dobrota\nUniversity Constantin Brâncuși Târgu-Jiu\ngdobrota70@gmail.com\n\n\nVerónica Berhongaray\nFrancisco de Vitoria University\nv.berhongaray@ufv.es\n\n\nEmilia Wiśniewska/Marzena Kołtoniak\nMedical University of Gdańsk\nwelcome@gumed.edu.pl\n\n\nSusana Franco\nSantarém Polytechnic University\nsfranco@esdrm.ipsantarem.pt\n\n\nMarija Gogova Samonikov\nGoce Delcev University Stip\nmarija.gogova@ugd.edu.mk\n\n\nJanine Lang\nTechnische Hochschule Ingolstadt\njanine.lang@thi.de\n\n\n\n  \nDownloald KALEIDOSCOPE OPEN CALL

SUMMARY:Migration and Racism: Interculturality in a Changing Europe
DESCRIPTION:Course Type: Flavour School \nHow does racialisation shape migrant experiences in today’s Europe — and what tools do students need to engage critically and ethically with these realities? This Flavour School brings together undergraduate and graduate students from across the ACE²-EU alliance to examine migration\, racism and interculturality as intertwined dimensions of contemporary European societies. Through an online launch session (28 Oct 2026) and an intensive on-site week at IPSantarém (2–6 Nov 2026)\, participants engage with academics\, public institutions and migrant-led civil society organisations — including AIMA (Migration Observatory) and Renovar a Mouraria Association — using active and challenge-based learning\, field visits and intercultural teamwork. The main challenge is to understand how different tools and processes influence the way we see\, record and interpret the world around us. \nIn real life\, documentary photography is present in fields such as journalism\, social media\, activism and cultural projects. Knowing how to use images consciously helps us to communicate better\, to question what we see and to give voice to different perspectives — something particularly important in a world full of fleeting and not always verified images. \nThis subject is relevant because photography is not just a technique — it is also a way of thinking critically. Academically\, it helps develop visual analysis and creativity. Professionally\, it opens doors in fields such as communication\, media and the arts. Socially\, it allows us to better understand other realities and tell stories with impact and responsibility. \nThe course is designed for students from different audiovisual disciplines and countries\, although prior experience in photography is required. \n  \nLearning Journey\nThe course follows a blended and progressive learning pathway that combines conceptual exploration\, creative practice and experiential learning within an international context. \nOnline preparatory phase (October–November 2026) \nDuring the online phase\, students are introduced to the core concepts of the course\, including the natural heritage of the River Tagus. Through online sessions and onsite workshops in Riga\, participants explore climate neutrality\, sustainability\, and environmental governance in universities\, focusing on key impact areas such as energy use\, mobility\, waste\, infrastructure\, and resource consumption. During the onsite mobility week\, students identify sustainability challenges\, assess environmental impacts\, and develop Climate Neutrality Guidelines or Climate Action Plans for real university contexts. They apply practical tools such as stakeholder mapping\, basic carbon footprint logic\, resource-flow analysis\, prioritisation methods\, and design thinking to transform challenges into feasible solutions. The programme combines theoretical input with practical workshops and field visits enabling students to connect sustainability frameworks with real institutional implementation. \n  \nCourse Description: \n \nProvide a more structured explanation of the course\, dividing it into its main components: \n\nOnline sessions: During the online phase October 12 to November 2\, students’ baseline knowledge of climate neutrality concepts\, sustainability governance\, and institutional environmental performance is assessed through structured discussions and preparatory analytical tasks. This phase also equips them with methodological tools for campus-level analysis. In the onsite phase\, students apply this foundation in practice: working in interdisciplinary teams\, they analyse real university sustainability challenges\, identify priority intervention areas\, and develop evidence-based solutions in the form of Climate Neutrality Guidelines or a structured Climate Action Plan with measurable targets and implementation pathways.\nOnsite sessions: The onsite mobility week in Riga functions as an applied sustainability laboratory where students work intensively in interdisciplinary teams to develop practical climate action proposals for universities. Participants engage with real university sustainability challenges covering areas such as energy efficiency\, mobility systems\, waste and circular resource management\, infrastructure performance\, and sustainability governance. Workshops combine short expert inputs with hands-on application sessions focused on environmental impact assessment\, stakeholder mapping\, prioritisation of sustainability interventions\, feasibility analysis\, climate action planning\, and creative design thinking. The learning process is highly practice-oriented\, with students continuously applying tools and methods directly to their selected university challenge. The programme also includes field visits to sustainability-related sites and initiatives in Riga\, allowing students to observe climate action and sustainability practices in real-life contexts and reflect on how theoretical approaches are implemented in practice. Each team develops a structured final output in the form of either Climate Neutrality Guidelines or a Climate Action Plan for a defined university context. The deliverables include a clear problem definition\, strategic objectives\, proposed interventions\, implementation timeline\, responsible stakeholders\, and monitoring indicators. The mobility week concludes with final presentations and reflection sessions\, where students present their results to academic staff\, peers\, and external sustainability practitioners.\n\nLocation and dates: Riga\, Latvia\, November 9 to November 13\, 2026 \n\nFollow-up / reflection: The follow-up phase goes deeper on structured student reflection. In an online session held after the mobility week\, interdisciplinary teams present the refined version of their Climate Neutrality Guidelines or Climate Action Plan and reflect on their learning process. Students critically assess how their initial knowledge and baseline analysis developed into practical solutions\, what challenges they encountered in translating sustainability concepts into operational measures\, and how interdisciplinary collaboration influenced decision-making.\n\nThe reflection emphasises personal learning outcomes\, problem-solving capacity\, and the feasibility of proposed interventions. Where possible\, presentations are shared with university management representatives\, reinforcing the connection between academic work and real institutional impact. \n  \nSpecific learning objectives include: \nPlease list clear and measurable objectives that students should achieve by the end of the course: \n\nExplain the concept of climate neutrality and its relevance to environmental safety\, sustainability\, and institutional resilience in higher education.\nIdentify and analyze key sources of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts within a university context\, including energy use\, mobility\, waste\, and resource management.\nCollaborate effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams to co-create practical sustainability solutions.\n\n\nWhich students would find this course useful for them? \nThis course may be suitable for students from ACE2-EU partner universities enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programs in the following fields: \n\nEnvironmental science\, sustainability studies\, and climate studies\nEngineering and architecture\nProject management\, public policy\, urban development\nEducation and social sciences\n\n\nThis course may be suitable for those who have an interest in: \n\nClimate neutrality\, sustainability\, and environmental responsibility\nPublic policy\, sustainable governance\nEngineering and architecture\n\n\n\nRecommended Language Level :\n\nAn intermediate level of English (B2)\, as the working language will be English. \nApplication Process: \nInterested applicants should \n🔗 Apply here: https://forms.gle/AdD1M8HgEZQc79RCA \nDeadline for receipt of applications: July 25\, 2026 \nPlease note that submitting an application does not guarantee a place on the programme.
