This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) brings together students from different countries and disciplines to explore how project management can transform sustainability and social good into tangible action. Working in multicultural teams\, you help create social impact by addressing this real question: What are the challenges and benefits of establishing a local PM4NGOs Hub\, and what advantages can it offer to universities\, NGOs\, and communities? Using a problem-based methodology rooted in design thinking\, you will analyse real-world contexts\, identify problems\, and co-create practical\, sustainability-driven solutions. This BIP equips students with knowledge and tools to foster purpose and meaning in any career\, expanding perceptions of social good. It encourages understanding of how effective project management drives innovation\, resilience\, and sustainable impact. Together\, we can make the world better — one project at a time. \nCourse Description:\n \n\nOnline sessions: There will be two online sessions\, each lasting 1\,5 hours. This session will cover online (e.g.\, introduction to key concepts\, group discussions\, preparatory work). Include indicative dates.\n\nFirst Welcome section: Acexperience + Presentation of teachers\, programme and venue. Design thinking methodology explanation. Introduction to key concepts such as sustainability\, social good and project management. Digital activity applying the concepts.\nSecond Case Study Presentation: Presentation of PM4NGOs by its executive director\, explanation of the challenge\, Q&A to prepare for on-site sessions.\n\n\n\n\nOn-site sessions: Students will be welcomed in Portugal at the Faculty of Management and Technology of Santarém Polytechnic University. After the opening ceremony\, teams will be formed\, and the countries serving as the challenge context will be chosen. During the BIP\, students from across the alliance will work in multicultural teams to explore how and why a Hub could be implemented in their country. The challenge is structured into three parts: 1) context analysis\, 2) identifying real problems\, and 3) designing practical solutions using core project management tools such as the triple constraint\, stakeholder mapping\, cost–benefit analysis\, risk assessment\, and theory of change. It is a hands-on method in which the teacher mentors the learning process. Each day\, students will attend brief lectures introducing tools and concepts relevant to the challenge. Teachers will be available to mentor teamwork. By Friday\, teams must organise their materials to participate in a fair open to the community\, where they will present their ideas. The best team will be chosen by popular vote and teacher assessment\, with recognition at the closing ceremony.\n\n\nFollow-up / reflection: Students will fill out an online Diagnostic survey in advance of the first online meeting to help develop tools and lectures that support their learning. In the ACE²-EU Alliance\, she is the conceptual lead for the design and implementation of the Social Impactors\, which are anchored in the SPACE Centre\, and the Chair for the Social Impactor Culture & Diversity.\nWith an academic background in social and political sciences\, international relations\, and criminology\,Mélissa Pebayle is the internationalization commissioner at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences’ School of Management\, as well as an ACE²-EU Project Officer for the whole university. In the ACE²-EU Alliance\, she is the operational lead of the SPACE Centre’s Social Impactors.\n\nGeorg Overbeck has been at Ingolstadt University of Technoloy (THI) since 2008 as Advisor for International Special Tasks. Within the European University Alliance ACE2-EU\, he contributes his long-standing expertise to deepening institutional cooperation at the European level. Working in close coordination with the university leadership\, he leads the strategic direction of the “Sustainability” work package within ACE2-EU. His competence in mediating between different sectors is based\, among other things\, on his experience in research marketing at the Regional Economic Development Agency for Southwest Germany. It explores how traditional textile knowledge and cultural heritage can serve as powerful tools for building sustainable and resilient lifestyles\, particularly in times of global crisis such as climate change\, economic instability and social disruption. \nStudents will engage with key concepts including fast fashion systems\, the circular economy\, textile waste management\, cultural resilience and sustainable design. During the first part of the on-site week\, the programme is dedicated to administrative staff\, who take a deep dive into BIP coordination\, evaluate best practices and develop a joint scheme for processes within the Alliance. In the second part\, the programme moves into project-based learning: administrative staff put what they have learned into practice\, while teaching staff receive a guided introduction to BIP development and work on potential BIP ideas to be taken further afterwards. Sessions on inclusive and diversity-sensitive BIP development\, as well as inputs on communication\, are open to all participants. \nAt the end of this course\, you will know everything you need to know about how to organise and coordinate your own BIP. Participating lecturers will have used the opportunity to exchange ideas\, work together in workshops to develop topics and content with colleagues from different Alliance institutions. In addition\, we will have laid out a foundation for the strategic positioning of BIPs to foster teaching\, research\, innovation\, entrepreneurship\, and vocational training within the ACE²-EU Alliance. \nLearning Journey \nThis BIP is divided into four major parts: \n\nIntroduction and information (on site)\nBest practices\, adaptation\, and integration (on site)\nExploration and structuring (on site)\nReflection and improvement (online)\n\nFor administrative staff: At the beginning of the course\, participants will receive a conceptual introduction to and important information about BIPs. After having gained in-depth insights\, they will develop processes and structures needed for the establishment of a workflow at their home institutions and within the Alliance. To do so\, they will work with case studies to assess best practices and pitfalls with the organisation of BIPs. \nFor teaching staff: Lecturers will join the programme on Wednesday. They will receive a concise introduction to BIP structures and how to develop a BIP. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how impact can be meaningfully defined\, monitored and assessed in international and institutional projects — not only in terms of delivered activities\, but also in relation to long-term effects\, measurable outcomes and broader value for communities\, institutions and European cooperation. \nThe meeting will provide space for exchange\, reflection and practical insights into impact measurement\, including monitoring frameworks\, indicators\, data collection tools and evidence-based evaluation. \nSpeakers \nDr Claudia Petrescu\nDr Claudia Petrescu is a Senior Researcher at the Romanian Academy’s Research Institute for Quality of Life and a Policy Expert at the Center for Not-for-profit Law. She has over two decades of experience in applied social science\, public policy and international project management. Her work includes coordinating and managing European consortia and initiatives such as the CARE Divide project\, AMALTHEA and GBV_Watch_Salons. She also has extensive experience in impact measurement and evaluation\, with a particular focus on evidence-based assessments designed to improve interventions for vulnerable communities. \nAndrei Ghimisi\nAndrei Ghimisi is an Associate Scientific Researcher at the Quality of Life Research Institute in Romania. He holds a PhD in political science and is a co-founding member of the NGO ADER. His main research interests include public policies\, social sciences and inclusion programmes aimed at reducing societal gaps. Within the Alliance\, he has been actively involved in impact measurement by contributing to the development of monitoring frameworks\, indicators and data collection tools used to assess project outcomes and long-term effects. \nKatarzyna Bruder\nKatarzyna Bruder is the Local Institutional Coordinator for ACE²-EU at the Medical University of Gdańsk and Head of the ACE²-EU Alliance Office at MUG. In this role\, she supports and coordinates MUG teams involved in Alliance activities\, helping to ensure effective communication\, smooth cooperation and alignment with the broader objectives of the Alliance. During the session\, she will present impact measurement from the perspective of the working group responsible for structuring and designing the ACE²-EU impact methodology\, with a focus on showing what has changed\, for whom\, and why it matters. \nModerator \nPreda Adrian-Eugen\nThe meeting will be moderated by Preda Adrian-Eugen\, Assistant Professor at Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu Jiu\, Faculty of Educational Sciences\, Law and Public Administration. He also has teaching experience in political science and has been involved in research activities in the fields of political science\, international relations and European studies. Course Overview \nUNd-9 United in Design is a short\, intensive\, cross-cultural workshop that brings together students from different creative and design-related disciplines to explore how design can communicate shared cultural narratives in public and semi-public spaces. The course is based on the idea of UNd-9 as a flexible framework that connects multiple cities through stories\, symbols and creative interpretations. \nThe workshop is intentionally open to students from different departments — architecture\, urban design\, graphic design\, fashion design\, product design\, fine arts\, media and related fields. Working in international and interdisciplinary teams\, participants use primarily paper-based methods\, complemented by simple physical modelling\, to research\, interpret and translate cultural identities into spatial and visual concepts. \nThe central task of the course is the conceptualisation and design of an exhibition panel or spatial marker intended for a university garden or open public space. In addition to drawings and narratives\, participants collaboratively construct one cardboard prototype that functions as a reference model. This prototype demonstrates how the UNd-9 concept can be extended\, adapted and replicated across different cities\, institutions and cultural contexts. \n															\n								\n												3. Learning Journey \nOn-site component (21–25 September 2026 · 35h · Stip): The on-site sessions unfold as an intensive\, hands-on design laboratory over five consecutive days. Learning happens through doing: drawing\, mapping\, cutting\, assembling\, discussing and testing ideas together in a shared studio environment. \nStudents work in international and interdisciplinary teams\, moving fluidly between research\, storytelling and making. Using paper\, cardboard and simple tools\, participants explore cultural narratives and translate them into spatial and visual concepts. Ideas are continuously sketched\, pinned up\, reworked and debated\, allowing the design process to remain open\, experimental and collaborative. \nThe week culminates in the collective construction of one cardboard prototype\, conceived as an exhibition panel or spatial marker for a university garden or open space. Daily critiques\, informal reviews and a final presentation frame the experience as a shared journey — focused on process\, exchange and cross-cultural learning rather than on polished final results. \n															\n								\n												4.
