Course Overview \nUNd-9 United in Design is a short\, intensive\, cross-cultural workshop that brings together students from different creative and design-related disciplines to explore how design can communicate shared cultural narratives in public and semi-public spaces. The course is based on the idea of UNd-9 as a flexible framework that connects multiple cities through stories\, symbols and creative interpretations. \nThe workshop is intentionally open to students from different departments — architecture\, urban design\, graphic design\, fashion design\, product design\, fine arts\, media and related fields. Working in international and interdisciplinary teams\, participants use primarily paper-based methods\, complemented by simple physical modelling\, to research\, interpret and translate cultural identities into spatial and visual concepts. \nThe central task of the course is the conceptualisation and design of an exhibition panel or spatial marker intended for a university garden or open public space. In addition to drawings and narratives\, participants collaboratively construct one cardboard prototype that functions as a reference model. This prototype demonstrates how the UNd-9 concept can be extended\, adapted and replicated across different cities\, institutions and cultural contexts. \n \n \n 3. Learning Journey \nOn-site component (21–25 September 2026 · 35h · Stip): The on-site sessions unfold as an intensive\, hands-on design laboratory over five consecutive days. Learning happens through doing: drawing\, mapping\, cutting\, assembling\, discussing and testing ideas together in a shared studio environment. \nStudents work in international and interdisciplinary teams\, moving fluidly between research\, storytelling and making. Using paper\, cardboard and simple tools\, participants explore cultural narratives and translate them into spatial and visual concepts. Ideas are continuously sketched\, pinned up\, reworked and debated\, allowing the design process to remain open\, experimental and collaborative. \nThe week culminates in the collective construction of one cardboard prototype\, conceived as an exhibition panel or spatial marker for a university garden or open space. Daily critiques\, informal reviews and a final presentation frame the experience as a shared journey — focused on process\, exchange and cross-cultural learning rather than on polished final results. \n \n \n 4. Learning Objectives \n\nExplore how cultural narratives and identities can be translated into visual\, material and spatial concepts.\nDevelop confidence in experimental\, paper-based and low-tech making processes\, including drawing\, mapping and cardboard prototyping.\nLearn to collaborate effectively in international and interdisciplinary teams\, valuing different creative approaches and perspectives.\nStrengthen storytelling and conceptual thinking as tools for design and artistic practice.\nUnderstand how temporary installations or spatial markers can activate and communicate meaning in shared university or public spaces.\nReflect on the role of design and creative practice in fostering dialogue\, inclusion and cross-cultural exchange.\n\n \n \n 5. What to Expect from the Virtual Coffee \nThe Virtual Coffee will provide participants with a practical pre-arrival information package covering the most important aspects of their mobility experience in Romania. \nThe organising team will introduce participants to Constantin Brâncuși University of Târgu Jiu and provide essential information about travelling to Romania and reaching Târgu Jiu. Participants will receive guidance on arrival arrangements\, accommodation\, local transportation\, university facilities\, course locations and the main academic\, cultural and social activities planned during the week. \nThe session will also explain how the different learning activities are organised\, what participants can expect from their programmes and what they should prepare before departure. Practical recommendations regarding travel documents\, clothing\, local services\, meals\, communication and everyday life in Romania will help participants arrive well prepared for their mobility. \nMost importantly\, the Virtual Coffee will provide an opportunity to meet fellow ACExperience and other ACE²-EU participants before travelling. Students and staff from different partner institutions will be able to connect with their course colleagues\, meet members of the local organising team and ask practical questions in an informal and friendly setting. \n \n \n 2. One Week\, Many ACE²-EU Experiences \nThe mobility week in Târgu Jiu will be much more than participation in an individual course. \nAlongside the four learning programmes\, participants will arrive during one of the most dynamic weeks of the ACE²-EU academic year\, coinciding with the ACE²-EU Annual Congress and the Kaleidoscope Culture Festival 2026 — “100 Voices – One Future.” \nThis unique combination of academic\, cultural and Alliance-wide activities will create opportunities for participants to meet students\, academics\, university staff and stakeholders from across ACE²-EU\, exchange perspectives\, build international connections and experience the diversity of the Alliance community. \nThe Kaleidoscope Culture Festival\, taking place from 28 to 30 October\, will add a strong intercultural dimension to the mobility experience\, creating a shared space for cultural exchange\, creativity and dialogue across the Alliance. \n \n \n 3. Four Learning Journeys — One International Community \nFrom exploring fake news and its social impact\, circular economy and sustainability\, and agritourism and local traditions\, to discussing Europe’s response to global challenges\, participants will approach contemporary societal issues from different disciplinary and cultural perspectives. \nAt the same time\, they will share one common experience: being part of an international ACE²-EU community gathered in Târgu Jiu. \nThe Virtual Coffee is therefore more than a practical information session. It is the first meeting point of your mobility journey — a space to connect\, prepare\, ask questions and discover the academic\, cultural and social experiences that await you in Romania. \n \n \n 4. SUMMARY:ALES Gamification for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
DESCRIPTION:« All Events \nGamification for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education\n24 September 2026\n \nCourse Type: Active Learning e-Pedagogy Schools (ALES)\nDuration: 2 hrs. synchronous online activities\nDates: Online component — 24 September 2026\, 15:00–17:00 CET\nCertification: Official certificate of attendance \nGamification is everywhere in higher education right now: points\, badges\, leaderboards\, quests. But does it work? The honest answer: it depends entirely on how thoughtfully it’s designed. Recent research shows gamified teaching reliably lifts motivation and engagement. However\, its impact on genuine learning remains unpredictable; courses designed without a clear understanding of how motivation operates often fail\, regardless of their game-like appearance. \n\nApplication deadline \n00\nDays\n00\nHours\n00\nMinutes\n00\nSeconds \nApplications are now closed. \n1. Organising Institutions \nLead and Host Institution: Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija (Lithuania) — Dovile Valantiejiene\, PhD \n2. Course Overview \nGamification is everywhere in higher education right now: points\, badges\, leaderboards\, quests. \nTwo hours won’t turn anyone into a game designer\, and this session doesn’t pretend otherwise. By the end\, participants will have a clearer sense of what makes a learning activity\, assignment\, or feedback-and-assessment moment feel motivating rather than merely being decorated with game elements. Also\, why so many well-intentioned attempts quietly backfire\, including rewards that undermine students’ own interest in the material. Participants will leave with a simple way to judge whether a design choice will help or hurt\, both for individual students and for groups working together\, as well as a few concrete starting points worth experimenting with in their own teaching. It is designed for educators from all disciplines and requires no prior expertise in gamification or game design. \n3. Learning Objectives \n\nUnderstand what makes gamification effective in higher education.\nRecognise the difference between meaningful gamification and the simple use of points\, badges\, or leaderboards.\nIdentify common gamification mistakes that can reduce student motivation.\nApply basic gamification principles to their own teaching activities.\nReflect on how gamification can support student engagement and learning.\nDevelop an initial idea for using gamification in their own course or learning activity.\n\n4. Learning Outcomes \nBy the end of the course\, participants will be able to: \n\nExplain the core psychological and design principles behind effective gamification\, and their relevance to teaching and learning in higher education.\nApply gamification in the practical context of learning activities\, assignments and feedback or assessment moments.\nCritically evaluate gamification choices\, identifying design pitfalls that undermine intrinsic motivation\, exclude some learners\, or lack a clear theoretical grounding.\nSketch an initial idea for their own teaching context\, to develop and try out further after the course.\n\n5. Who Should Apply \nThis course is designed for teaching staff from ACE²-EU partner universities across all disciplines who want to move beyond superficial gamification techniques toward evidence-based\, motivation-focused design. It is particularly suitable for educators seeking to strengthen student engagement and reflect critically on when and why to introduce gamification into their teaching. \n6. Application Process \nApply here: https://forms.gle/BJs5gq7UsKo2D2Qh7 \nDeadline for receipt of applications: 24 September 2026 \nA Microsoft Teams calendar invitation will be sent to all registered teaching staff. \n7. SUMMARY:ACE²-EU Virtual Town Hall Meeting | Our Values in Action

How can these values guide our academic communities\, shape institutional cooperation\, and be translated into meaningful practices across our universities? On 29 September 2026\, at 11:00 CET\, the ACE²-EU community is invited to come together for a new edition of the ACE²-EU Virtual Town Hall Meeting\, entitled “Our Values in Action”. \n\nSession starts in \n 00\n Days\n 00\n Hours\n 00\n Minutes\n 00\n Seconds \nThis session has already taken place. \n \n \n 1. About This Edition \nParticipation is open to the wider ACE²-EU community. Students\, teachers\, researchers\, administrative staff\, coordinators\, and external stakeholders are warmly invited to take part in the discussion. \nRegistration is required. Following registration\, participants will receive the necessary information for joining the online meeting. \nThis edition will provide a space for reflection\, dialogue\, and active participation around the values that underpin the identity and mission of the ACE²-EU Alliance. The meeting will also highlight the work carried out\, with particular attention to the ACE²-EU Values Brochure and the ACE²-EU Values Toolbox\, two resources designed to articulate our common principles and support their practical implementation across the Alliance. \n \n \n 2. Main Speaker \nAna Nikodinovska Krstevska — Goce Delčev University (UGD)\, North Macedonia \nThe session will be coordinated and moderated by Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska\, who will guide participants through a discussion on the role of shared values in strengthening cooperation\, participation\, and a common sense of belonging within the ACE²-EU community. \n \n \n 3. About the ACE²-EU Virtual Town Hall Meetings \nThe ACE²-EU Virtual Town Hall Meetings are conceived as regular online forums that foster dialogue\, transparency\, participation\, and engagement across the Alliance. \nThey provide an open and inclusive setting in which students\, teachers\, researchers\, administrative staff\, institutional coordinators\, and external stakeholders from across the ACE²-EU partner institutions can meet beyond institutional and disciplinary boundaries. \nThe Town Hall Meetings aim to provide updates on Alliance activities and developments while\, more importantly\, creating opportunities for members of the community to exchange perspectives\, raise questions\, provide feedback\, discuss common challenges\, and contribute to the ongoing development of ACE²-EU. \nThrough this participatory approach\, the Virtual Town Hall Meetings support a culture of dialogue and shared responsibility\, ensuring that the development of the Alliance is informed by the voices and experiences of the communities it brings together. \n \n \n 4. Our Values in Action \nThe September edition will focus specifically on the shared values of ACE²-EU and on the ways in which these values can move beyond statements of principle to become part of our everyday academic and institutional practices. \nValues are fundamental to the identity of a European University Alliance. They influence how we collaborate\, how we engage with our communities\, how we approach education and research\, and how we build an inclusive\, responsible\, and connected European academic environment. \nThe meeting will therefore invite participants not only to explore what our shared values are\, but also to consider a broader question: How can we collectively transform shared values into shared practices and meaningful action? \nThe discussion will encourage participants to reflect on how the principles promoted by ACE²-EU can inform cooperation across institutions\, disciplines\, professional roles\, and national contexts\, while contributing to a stronger common identity across the Alliance. \n \n \n 5. Your Voice Matters \nThe ACE²-EU Virtual Town Hall Meeting is designed as a participatory forum rather than a one-way presentation. Participants will be encouraged to share their perspectives\, exchange experiences\, ask questions\, and contribute actively to the discussion. \nThe diversity of voices represented across our universities is essential to understanding how our shared values can be meaningfully embedded in the everyday life of the Alliance. \nJoin the conversation. Share your perspective. Help us turn our shared values into shared action. \n \n \n 6.
