Today marked an exciting milestone for Blue Bioeconomy: Algae for Food Innovation
Students from 9 universities met on-site for the very first time in Santarém, Portugal, coming together with the course professors to kick off this international blended challenge.

This unique program brings together passionate undergraduate and postgraduate students to explore how algae and aquatic biomass can shape the future of sustainable food ingredients. Through collaboration, expert mentoring, and hands-on learning, students are turning science into real-world solutions for the algae-based food sector.

The journey started with a deep dive into algae cultivation and their applications in sustainable ingredients, connecting theory with real-life technologies and innovation.
