The Santarém Polytechnic University a public Higher Education Institution, since 45 years, graduates citizens and qualified professionals within the areas of Agricultural Sciences, Education, Management, Nursing and Sport Sciences.
The institution is in the beautiful city of Santarém, washed by the river Tejo, at only 50 minutes away from Lisbon and also in the near city of Rio Maior (Sport Sciences School), both provided with excellent communication feeds. Santarém becomes famous through its historical patrimony (is known as the capital of gothic) and for his traditional gastronomy festival which takes place in the first two weeks of October.
The major concern of Santarém Polytechnic University in is to raise leading and self-sufficient professionals, and qualified citizens within their professional scope, as well as dedicated people with ethic and deontological professional principles.
The human values are the basis to a good citizenship and IPSantarém encourages and supports its academic initiatives in educational, cultural, sportive and leisure activities.
We offer students a good working environment and infrastructures endowed with equipment in order to assist their studying; furthermore, students can also enjoy good spaces for sports practice.
We are used to welcoming students in mobility, for studies and for internships as well as staff from all over the world. The ACE2-EU partners are invited to take part in this exchange activities as well as to create new ones. We usually organize international staff weeks on a yearly basis, we organize BIPs addressed both to students and staff and we plan to organize more of these in special cooperation with ACE2-EU partners, finding subjects that can accommodate the interests of us both. We are also able to welcome teachers for a teaching assignment and staff for Job shadowing.
As part of its strategic development, Santarém Polytechnic University has strengthened its research capacity by establishing six Research Units registered with the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). These units include: CERNAS, focusing on agriculture, environment and rural development; CIAC, specializing in digital literacy and inclusion; CIDESD, dedicated to sports science research; CIEQV, studying quality of life and well-being; RISE-Health, conducting translational health research; and SPRINT, advancing research in sport, physical activity and health promotion. All units are currently under FCT evaluation and work collaboratively to address societal challenges while promoting regional development.
The role of Santarém Polytechnic University in ACE2-EU, in addition to active participation in all the workpages, is the management and governance of the Alliance. Our role will be to establish governance structures; create a shared management team; promote and organize annual Assembly meetings and begin to define and launch a long-term sustainability strategy. We are also committed to being a driving force for all working groups and fostering and intensifying cooperation between all members of the Alliance as well as promoting the spirit of one for all and all for each other.
