Three ACE²-EU Blended Intensive Programmes Begin at the Medical University of Gdańsk

This week, the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) welcomes participants from across the ACE²-EU Alliance for three international Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), bringing together researchers, academics and educators for a week of learning, collaboration and exchange of best practices.

The programmes, hosted in Gdańsk from 7 to 11 September, focus on key areas of academic development: research funding, innovative teaching methodologies and student-centred education. Through a combination of workshops, expert-led sessions and international networking opportunities, participants will strengthen their professional competences while contributing to the development of the European Higher Education Area.

ACE²-EU Grants Academy

The ACE²-EU Grants Academy is designed for early-stage researchers who wish to enhance their knowledge of national and European research funding opportunities and develop practical skills in grant preparation and management.

During the programme, participants will explore major funding schemes, including Horizon Europe, European Partnerships and Interreg, while learning how to transform research ideas into competitive project proposals. The academy also provides valuable insights into the grant evaluation process, partnership building and effective research communication.

Problem-Based Learning in Academic Education

The Problem-Based Learning in Academic Education programme supports academic teachers interested in implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in their teaching practice.

Participants will explore methods for designing engaging learning environments that encourage critical thinking, collaboration and independent problem-solving. Through practical exercises and discussions with international peers, they will gain experience in applying PBL approaches to address real-world educational challenges.

The programme is financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Support for European Universities programme.

Modern Academic Teaching: Student Engagement, Gamification, Tutoring and Artificial Intelligence

The third programme, Modern Academic Teaching: Student Engagement, Gamification, Tutoring and Artificial Intelligence, focuses on innovative approaches to academic education.

Participants will examine practical strategies for increasing student engagement, integrating gamification elements into courses, using tutoring methods to support learners and employing artificial intelligence tools responsibly and effectively in higher education. The programme promotes the exchange of experiences and good practices among educators from different countries and academic backgrounds.

This programme is also financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the Support for European Universities programme.

Strengthening European Cooperation

The three BIPs reflect the ACE²-EU Alliance’s commitment to fostering innovation, excellence and international collaboration in higher education. By bringing together participants from partner institutions across Europe, the programmes create opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development and the establishment of long-term academic partnerships.

MUG is proud to host these international initiatives and welcomes all participants to Gdańsk for a productive and inspiring week of learning within the ACE²-EU community.
