LIK Hosts Two ACE²-EU International Student Programmes

On 5 October, Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija HEI (LIK) welcomed international students for two ACE²-EU Alliance programmes: the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Development of Engineering Skills: Racing for the Future” and the Flavour School “Mobility Implementation in Sustainable Smart Cities”.

The two programmes bring together students from across the Alliance for a week of international learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and practical experience in engineering, motorsport and sustainable mobility.

Engineering through motorsport

Participants in the BIP “Development of Engineering Skills: Racing for the Future” are developing their engineering competences through motorsport and racing car technologies.

Throughout the programme, students are exploring topics such as racing car design, aerodynamics, data analysis and telemetry, race strategy, safety and race organisation. The programme combines theoretical learning with hands-on activities, including laboratory work, racing simulators and testing on a racing circuit.

By connecting engineering theory with real racing applications, the BIP gives participants an opportunity to better understand how different areas of engineering come together in a highly technical and demanding environment.

Sustainable mobility – from the classroom to the drift track

At the same time, participants in the Flavour School “Mobility Implementation in Sustainable Smart Cities” are focusing on smart and sustainable approaches to urban mobility.

Working in international and interdisciplinary teams, students are addressing real-world transport and mobility challenges while considering how innovative solutions can contribute to more sustainable, accessible and efficient cities.

A key part of the programme is its strong practical focus. Students will move beyond theoretical discussions and experience mobility first-hand through activities including drifting, driving on a racing circuit and other practical mobility sessions.

These experiences allow participants to explore vehicle behaviour, movement, control and mobility from a different perspective, linking academic knowledge with real-world situations and demonstrating that sustainable and smart mobility education can also be highly practical and engaging.
Learning across disciplines and borders

Both programmes will continue throughout the week, with activities taking place at LIK and at other practical activity locations in Kaunas and beyond.
In addition to developing subject-specific knowledge, the programmes encourage students to collaborate across disciplines and cultures, exchange different perspectives and apply their knowledge in practical settings.

Through initiatives such as the BIP and Flavour School, the ACE²-EU Alliance continues to create opportunities for students to learn together across borders, combine academic knowledge with hands-on experience and develop skills relevant to the engineering and mobility challenges of the future.
