ACE-SCHOLAR — Researcher Capacity Development Workshop series is a structured training programme open to students and staff from all disciplines. It provides practical skills, evidence-based tools, and collaborative learning opportunities to support participants in developing a strong research profile focusing on scientific dissemination.
The Scientific Writing workshop is part of the ACE-SCHOLAR in-person workshop series, designed for student researchers at all stages, from master’s students to PhD candidates and junior researchers. Delivered as a 4-day intensive session hosted by an ACE²-EU partner university, the workshop supports participants in developing rigorous, clear, and publication-ready scientific writing skills.
Aligned with the European Competence Framework for Researchers (Module 7: Doing Research), the workshop guides participants through the full writing journey, from structuring ideas and reading scientific literature to presenting research effectively and refining written work through peer feedback. Building on the foundations of the ACE-SCHOLAR Foundation Course, the workshop combines expert-led teaching sessions, hands-on writing and presentation practice, and structured peer review in a collaborative, international learning environment.
This programme is open to:
- Students enrolled in postgraduate programmes such as Master’s and PhD courses at ACE²-EU partner universities.
- Academic and administrative staff from ACE²-EU partner universities.
Working language: English. A B1–B2 level is recommended to follow the sessions comfortably.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Structure and craft scientific texts: apply the principles of clear, logical, and rigorous scientific writing appropriate to their discipline.
- Critically read and analyse scientific literature: evaluate example papers to identify effective writing strategies, argumentation, and structure.
- Develop and articulate research ideas: transform research questions and findings into coherent written and oral formats.
- Deliver effective scientific presentations: select appropriate presentation types, apply best practices, and engage diverse audiences.
- Give and receive constructive peer feedback: participate in structured review sessions and use feedback to revise and strengthen their own work.
- Reflect on their competence development: complete self-assessments aligned with the European Competence Framework for Researchers.
