From May 4 to May 8, 2026, the international workshop “ABC School – The Isar Workshop: Sustainable Urban Design in Dialogue with Nature and Community” officially commenced in Stip, representing an important platform for academic exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of sustainable urban concepts in dialogue with nature and
the local community.
Throughout these days, the workshop brought together students, professors, and partners from multiple institutions and universities across Europe, who, through collaborative work and field activities, had the opportunity to explore the potential of the Isar area and the riverfront in Stip. The event is conducted under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Namicheva Todorovska, Assoc. Prof. Vladitsa Nikolovska, Prof. Dr. Daiva Kraniauskienė and Prof. Dr. Marius Vaišnoras.
During the first three days, participants actively engaged in a series of interdisciplinary activities focused on analyzing and identifying real challenges within the urban environment. Through field visits, spatial mapping, research work, and direct communication with the local community, students and mentors developed ideas and initial concepts for sustainable urban
development.
The third day was dedicated to deepening the analyses, developing conceptual solutions, and presenting the initial ideas within the framework of teamwork. Through discussions, creative sessions, and the exchange of experiences, participants strengthened their collaboration and directed their research toward concrete proposals with the potential for real impact on the
local environment.
By studying at UGD, and through ACE²-EU, students have the opportunity to learn and collaborate with students and professors from nine European universities across Europe, building a truly international educational experience.
