ACE²-EU Alliance Meets in Gdańsk to Advance Work on Its Future Legal Entity

The ACE²-EU Alliance is currently holding its first day of an intensive workshop dedicated to developing the idea of establishing a legal entity for the Alliance at the Medical University of Gdańsk. The event brings together representatives from partner universities who are responsible for governance design, legal preparation, organisational planning and strategic coordination.

With the support of external experts in international law, participants are discussing the legal framework required to create an AISBL under Belgian law, examining governance models and identifying the statutory elements that will shape the Alliance’s future structure. This expert input is helping to clarify procedural requirements and potential challenges, and will support evidence-based decision-making as the Alliance works towards achieving long-term organisational stability.

Throughout the first day, partners are engaging in collaborative sessions focused on defining the mission, responsibilities, and activity scope of the future ACE²‑EU legal entity. The discussions also consider the experiences of other alliances, providing valuable comparative perspectives.

Today’s workshop marks an important step in the Alliance’s pathway toward formalising its structure. The ongoing work is strengthening shared understanding, aligning strategic priorities, and laying the foundation for further progress on the legal formation process, which will continue in the coming months.

This project is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the “Support for European Universities” programme.
