On 8 June 2026, the Medical University of Gdańsk officially welcomed participants to the on-site component of the international course “Fruit and Vegetables – Sustainable Cultivation, Diet and Health Impact”, organised within the Applied Blended Challenge (ABC) Programme.
The first day of the programme focused on integration, knowledge exchange, and setting the scene for the intensive days ahead. The event opened with a welcome session and course introduction, providing participants with an overview of the programme structure, objectives, and expected learning outcomes.
A key highlight of the day was the cultural and social activity session, during which student groups from partner institutions presented their national food cultures. These presentations explored traditional fruits and vegetables, locally significant products, and characteristic food practices, offering valuable insight into the diversity of European food systems.
In the afternoon, participants took part in a project development workshop focused on communication strategies and behavioural change. Students began designing concepts for social campaigns aimed at encouraging the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables as alternatives to processed foods. The session marked the start of their collaborative project work, which will continue throughout the programme.
The first day concluded with informal networking and social activities, allowing participants to strengthen connections and build an international learning community.
The on-site programme continues in the coming days with laboratory work, study visits, and further project development activities.
