The future of rural regions in the context of demographic change

CUAS, Austria is hosting students from nine partner universities from 5 to 9 October 2026. The ABC Course, ‘The Future of Rural Regions in the Context of Demographic Change’, brings together students with diverse experiences through case studies, practical sessions and stakeholder engagement activities.

Throughout the course, students will participate in a range of sessions designed to help them understand the mechanisms of population development and their potential social and economic impacts. On Thursday, an excursion is planned to strengthen interaction among the students and foster teamwork, collaboration and knowledge exchange.

By the end of the course on 9 October, students and partner representatives will have the opportunity to collaborate and reflect on the existing challenges facing rural areas. Students will develop expertise and establish connections in the fields of demographic change, population economics and regional development, while developing tailored concepts and approaches for rural areas.
