Economic Resilience in Times of Crisis, Security Challenges and Uncertainties: Global Business Perspectives

Course Type: Flavour School
Duration and Learning Format
This Flavour School is delivered in an intensive on-site format over 5 days.
The course includes:
  • 25 hours of on-site contact time, including lectures, workshops, seminars, and practical activities
  • Additional student effort through group work, case study analysis, and final presentations
Prior to the on-site phase, participants are required to complete the ACE²-EU onboarding MOOC, ACERookies, designed to introduce students to the Alliance, its values, and the learning approach.
In addition, a mandatory online welcome and onboarding session (ACExperience) will take place on 25 May 2026.
On-site component: 1–5 June 2026
Location: Stip, North Macedonia
All participants must complete the onboarding requirements prior to the on-site experience.
 
Credits and Certification
On successful completion of the course, participants will receive 2 ECTS credits and a certificate of attendance.
Successful completion requires:
  • A minimum attendance of 80% of the on-site sessions
  • Active participation throughout the course
  • Completion and submission of assigned tasks and group work

Course Overview
This Flavour School explores how economies, governments, and businesses can prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
Students will examine key challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, economic shocks, energy insecurity, and environmental pressures. The course combines global and European perspectives, focusing on how these factors influence business strategies and public policy.
Through real-world examples, including recent geopolitical developments, participants will understand how resilience can be strengthened through diversification, innovation, good governance, and international cooperation.
No prior background in economics is required. The course is designed for students from a wide range of disciplines interested in global challenges and future-oriented decision-making.
Learning Journey
The on-site phase is structured as an intensive and interactive learning experience.
Students will engage in activities such as:
  • Workshops on scenario planning and crisis response
  • Case studies on real economic and business challenges
  • Group project work to design a resilience strategy
  • Expert lectures and panel discussions
  • Collaborative work in international and interdisciplinary teams
The course emphasises active participation, discussion, and the application of concepts to real-world contexts.

At the end of the course, students will:
