Course Description and Learning Objectives

This course introduces academic teaching staff to practical and responsible uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that support teaching, learning and everyday academic work in higher education. Participants will explore how contemporary AI systems can assist in designing learning activities, developing course materials, enhancing student engagement, streamlining assessment processes and improving their own academic productivity.

The course emphasises hands-on experimentation, critical reflection and authentic academic use cases. It is designed for educators from all disciplines and requires no prior technical expertise. By the end of the course, participants will have a clear understanding of how to integrate AI meaningfully and ethically into their teaching practice in order to improve learning outcomes and enrich the overall student experience.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the core concepts of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its relevance to teaching and learning in higher education using clear and accessible language.
  • Use AI tools to support the creation of educational materials, such as lectures, seminars, summaries, visual explanations and interactive learning resources.
  • Critically evaluate AI-generated content, identifying its limitations, potential biases and risks related to accuracy, ethics and data protection.
  • Integrate AI tools into their own teaching context by designing a small teaching activity or lesson plan supported by AI-generated resources.
