Today’s session combined a theoretical foundation with an intensive 3-hour onsite practical module giving participants both the knowledge and the hands-on experience needed to understand and respond to cases of domestic and family violence.
🔹 Theoretical Component
Participants explored the stages of professional intervention, from initial reporting and risk assessment to victim protection and coordinated support. We discussed:
- the roles of police officers, social workers, psychologists, and legal professionals,
- crisis de-escalation strategies,
- ethical considerations in interventions,
- and the importance of ensuring victims’ safety and dignity.
🔹 Practical Component
Guided by stakeholder Miruna Prejbeanu, police officer, participants engaged in real-life case simulations inside a mobile criminalistics laboratory. These exercises demonstrated:
- evidence-based intervention methods,
- interinstitutional teamwork,
- and the value of a victim-centered, trauma-informed approach.
🔹 Learning Outcomes
✔ Understanding the full intervention process-from reporting to long-term protection ✔ Recognizing the responsibilities of key actors involved ✔ Applying de-escalation and crisis management techniques ✔ Promoting ethical, safe, and trauma-informed practices in frontline work
A powerful and insightful day that strengthened both competence and collaboration among all participants. 💙✨
