The “Re-designing Public Spaces – PlatzDa!” training course invites students to explore how urban public spaces can be revitalised to support sustainability, community engagement, and cultural identity.
Through a blended, challenge-based format, the course combines online preparatory modules with an immersive project week in Ingolstadt, where participants will co-develop creative solutions for the reuse of vacant and ground-floor spaces in the city.
Learning Focus:
- Applying sustainability science and smart city principles to real-life urban contexts.
- Conducting stakeholder analysis to understand diverse community needs.
- Using policy communication tools to propose feasible and innovative urban interventions.
- Encouraging entrepreneurial and creative thinking in developing actionable ideas.
Expected Outcomes:
Students will gain hands-on experience in urban design and participatory planning, learning how to translate innovative ideas into practical, community-based projects that contribute to more inclusive and sustainable cities.
